Tom was awesome!  I had no idea who to go with when looking for a home inspector but after speaking with him on the phone I was sold that he would do a great job.  He's very honest and genuine and really has the BUYER's best interest in mind.  On the day of the inspection, he arrived early and had already scoped out the outside of the house and right away started letting us know how the exterior looked.  Inside he was really thorough with the inspection, he even asked us if we had kids or were planning on that (which we are) so he kept that in mind as he was looking for potential issues.  With every issue that he noted, he explained to us what was wrong and what to do to fix it as well as being honest about the severity of the issues.  Many times he would note an issue and say this isn't a big deal and here's how to quickly fix it, but I'm going to note it for your records. It was this honesty and care that he gave throughout the inspection that really impressed us.  Also, our house is a technically a condo even though it looks like a single family home, so he made specific notes about things as they related to the condo and HOAs.  The whole inspection took a little over 4 hours for our 2 story 2300 sq ft home, but it really didn't feel like it at all.

If the inspection itself wasn't enough, he said if we had any questions about the report in the days/weeks/years later, he said do not hesitate to call and ask him.  We had a couple of small questions, just to clarify some items on the report and he got right back to us and explained exactly what the issue was. All in all, I was super-impressed with Tom and would recommend him without hesitation!  If you are a first time home buyer, like us, he will definitely ease your nerves and make the inspection process a lot more comfortable.

Tom Schlotter of Allied Home did an amazing thing for me and I want to sing his praises because he didn't have to do what he did AT ALL. I was seeking a second opinion on an inspection by another inspector because the write up didn't address (I thought) my concerns and questions about the house. Tom could easily have said, sure, I will come to the house to do another inspection and collect his fee. But what he did instead was he sat on the phone with me for almost an hour, FOR FREE, and gave me his thoughts on the specific concerns I had. And what I REALLY appreciated and respected, and which really showed his professionalism, was that he never once said a bad word about either the other inspector or the report that he wrote up. I cannot tell you how much all of this impressed me. It went extraordinarily well. Tom listened respectfully and intently to all of my concerns and addressed each one, one by one, and gave me his suggestions, thoughts and ideas. I cannot say enough good things about him!

If you are looking for an inspector, look no further than Tom Schlotter. I must be balanced in this review and say that he did not do the actual inspection, but I honestly felt like he "knew" that property as well as anyone could and not been there.
I recommend him without reservation and will do so to anyone looking for a good inspection.

Tom has inspected two of our properties prior to purchasing in the last 6 years. In both cases, Tom had uncovered issues that allowed us to negotiate with the seller for fair resolve. Being new to home ownership, the detailed report that Tom provides includes information about the property allowed us to make informed decisions. This includes functions of the home that need to be brought up to code (for future home sales), and safety risks, and preventative care. Tom invested a good half-day in his inspection and accessed all parts of our home, including the roof to report back his findings. The report was emailed to us that evening and allowed us to move forward with our property transaction. Good guy, super knowledgeable, and made us more confident homeowners.

Tom is excellent at what he does and he saved us thousands of dollars by pointing out costly hard to find repairs. We were able to negotiate down the price of our home thanks to his thorough inspection, discussions during the inspection and descriptive final report. Because of his work I was able to confidently talk to realtors, lawyers, contractors, electricians, plumbers etc. about work that needed to be done and was able to find the right people to do the jobs because I understood the problems and how to fix them. He gave me piece of mind that we knew what we were buying and that there wouldn't be any hidden surprises. A year later there are still none. We probably could have saved a couple of hundred dollars hiring another inspector but we would not have received his valuable explanations, willingness to answer all of our many questions and his incredibly detailed report that I still refer to today. All of which saved us a ton of money in the long run. I'm so pleased that Tom was our inspector.

Thank you! Wasn’t sure what to expect from the inspection process as this was my first but have to tell you I was blown away. You literally looked at every inch of that house (inside and out) and took the time to explain what you were looking for and why. When you found items that didn’t add up you took the time to do some trouble-shooting to try and find an explanation rather than just note it and move on. Although we found items that I would have preferred we didn’t, obviously much better to find them now and require the seller correct them on their dime. Hopefully the seller will agree to make the repairs but if not and I have to continue my search I will be definitely be using your services again.

Dear Tom,
Due to your professionalism and attention to detail during our home inspection we were able to negotiate a fifteen thousand dollar ($15,000.00) reduction on the purchase price of our new home. That is quite a return on the home inspection fee and most probably the best return on an investment that we ever had!
